I have been able to sew for about two hours a day recently and am working on getting Wallypop restocked. I’m enjoying the work again, but also afraid it’s all for naught. We shall see.
In the meantime, I’m also going to be hauling some stuff to the Holistic Moms Network Potluck and Craft Show this weekend. That should be fun. I don’t get to go to HMN meetings any more - they are always on the same day I teach class. I used to be able to go to part of a meeting and still make class on time, but the location’s changed and it’s just far enough away from where we teach that I can’t do both.
But events like this, held on a weekend, are a fun chance to get together with the HMN moms that I don’t get to see at other events.
I’ve added two new products to the ever-growing assortment of products for more natural lifestyle over at WP Living. First, sandwich wraps. These wraps are quite simple, but also ingenious. They’re reusable, laminated fabric sheets that you wrap around your sandwich (or wrap, or pita, or whatever) instead of using a plastic bag or plastic box. No BPAs! These are so simple, I’ve hesitated in offering them for a while, but I’ve had so many requests for them that I’ve decided to just go ahead and include them in my product offerings.
Next up are snack bags. These are, again, alternatives to plastic zip-close bags. Our family’s used them for years, and I’ve made several for friends, family, and customers (as special-order, by-request items). Just as with sandwich wraps, the number of requests I’ve received for these has grown exponentially in recent months, and so I decided to go ahead and offer them as regular products. The sizes mimic standard zip-close bag sizes, but they are much more fun and, again, free of BPAs. The only drawback to these bags is that they are not waterproof and airproof like plastic bags are. (You can’t put, for example, cheese in them, then toss them into a cooler with ice and expect the cheese to remain dry as the ice melts. The zipper installation is NOT waterproof! They also will not keep homemade play dough from drying out, since they’re not airproof.) They will work great, though, for dry snacks as well as for foods like sliced apples or other fresh fruits and vegetables.
No, it’s nowhere close to fall, but I’m slowly checking items off the “must sew before baby arrives” list.

This is a fun pouch I made from some super fun fabric I found at J0Ann’s a while back. While I was at it, I also restocked my store, and as soon as I open again in August, you can buy yourself your very own Flames and Dragons pouch - or choose from one of several fun designs.

I’ve been busily working on Wallypop orders this week. This is a fitted diaper for a good-sized order for a local mom. I got her order finished up last night, and have about another 2 days’ worth of work ahead of me on retail orders, then a wholesale order!

You know, I haven’t been posting much, because I’ve mostly been working on filling Made To Order orders from Wallypop - diapers and carriers - and I consider that to be somewhat mundane. Additionally, we haven’t had a sunny day for what seems like 10 years, so it’s been very difficult to take decent pictures. (And the two sunny days we did have, I was outside with Wally having fun, not taking pictures of projects!!)
But what the heck, I’ve decided I may just as well start posting pictures of order sewing and instock sewing, since that’s what I’ll be doing for most of the next two months.
So, here you go! The picture above is four wool covers sewn for a large order headed for California hopefully tomorrow. I have three wet bags and two Cycle Pads to make today before it gets all packed up and headed out the door.
