Craft Saturday and Etsy Update

Well, Craft Saturday was exceedingly slow today (disappointing, but still slightly profitable, if one considers just barely covering one’s booth fee in 8 hours to be profitable). I did get some knitting done!

Anyway, this means that the remaining shoes (these sold pretty well, but I still have a lot left) and totes will be listed on Etsy over the course of the next several days or weeks. I also have some Halloween Little Leg Warmers that I’ll both list on Etsy as well as on WP Living if I get a chance. I’m not sure if I’ll list the soaps I’ve made, or if I’ll keep them to give as gifts. We’ll see.

A few projects going on

Things are slowing down here, that’s for sure, but I’m working on a few projects right now, in between trying to get some Mei Tais sewn up for Wallypop.

I’m trying out batik - I’ll write more about that in a few days when I have more finished projects to show you, but in the meantime, here’s a teaser:

In Progress batik

I will be dying the top part black early next week. We’ll see how that works out.

Tub dyeing

I’m also trying out tub dying, which is not as easy as you might think. Well, it actually is not that hard. I just have this problem where I get up to grab a drink of water, and end up doing 10 other things, and forgetting I’m supposed to be in there stirring the stuff.

Wally's Pumpkin shirt

And, finally, Wally really wanted me to make him a pumpkin shirt, and he wanted to help. He helped me dye it orange (he stirred a bit) and then he helped me draw the face and paint it on. (Freezer paper stencil.)

Completed: Sleep Sack from Knitty

Knit Sleeper

I really thought this project would take longer than it did, but I completed it in one weekend. Granted, one largely obsessed with knitting weekend, but still…

It’s made using Knitty’s pattern, but leaving off the zodiac signs. I also did not put in the zipper at the bottom. I was thinking of doing a drawstring, but decided to leave it plain for the time being and decide what to do with it once there’s an actual baby in there.

Are you getting sick of endless posting of new baby projects? Sorry. Next post should be my batik experiments!

On the Needles: Blanket

Knitting

OK, this stuff is SO SOFT. It’s the 100% baby alpaca I picked up at La Bella Vita on vacation. I couldn’t decide what to do with it, but ended up deciding on a blanket, I’m thinking something small to toss over the baby while in the carseat. But I wasn’t sure I’d have enough yarn, so I decided to make small squares, then seam the squares together to make a blanket.

As suspected, the yarn didn’t go nearly far enough. I have about six of these little squares, and I’d like at least double that. So I need to go off and find another skein of this stuff!

Yet More Knit Pants and a soaker.

OK, so I’m OBSESSED.

More knit pants

These are newborn size. The only pair I have in newborn size. They look oddly long and too skinny, don’t they?

This is a soaker made from the Curly Purly pattern. (the link goes to a PDF)
Curly Purly Soaker

I am going to try to dye it.

Cupcake Soaps

Cupcake Soap

So, several years ago, I saw a picture online of some cupcake soap that someone had made and I thought, “if I ever make soap, I will totally make some cupcake soap.” Well, I started playing around with making soap, and couldn’t resist making these little cupcake soaps. I used the mini cupcake pans I got from my mom, and the papers have been around since I can remember, they look like they’re from the 70s. These particular ones are chocolate with vanilla “frosting,” but I also made some strawberry and vanilla ones. They’re so cute to look at, I have a hard time using them!

Some of these are on their way to Miracle Diapers to be used as Thank You gifts to the sewers who repair the dipes that are sent in. Some of these will be Christmas presents. Some will be gifts for various people and events.

I’m not going to sell any of these. I used somewhat lower quality soap base for my first several batches of soap, and prefer to use the high quality, really nice oils and no Sodium Laureth Sulfate stuff for soaps that are for sale. BUT I anticipate making more of these and THOSE will end up in the shop (or at Craft Saturday).

My giant belly

Though people keep telling me how very small I am (which is ANNOYING!!!), I personally feel that I have a fairly large belly. I can’t remember how far I am, but I’m due at the end of October, so about a month and a half away.
